What is your favorite word?
Challenge, because I LOVE a challenge. I like working for what I have and I never settle for the easy way out! Without a challenge, I’m not happy. I like the feeling of knowing that I have achieved something great on my own and that it wasn’t just handed to me. No matter where the challenge comes, I know I have the strength to overcome it and God and my family will support me along the way. Whether on the track or on the stage, a nice challenge gives me the adrenaline rush to go out there and turn heads!
What are your beauty secrets?
I wouldn’t consider them secrets… I love hair conditioner though! It makes my hair extremely soft and I actually use it after every single shampooing multiple times! I also believe your make up should increase your natural beauty. Girls, don’t use bronzer and make you face orange and your neck white! No one finds it attractive and everyone notices it except you.
What do you take most pride in? Why?
My 3rd grade teacher once said, “If you think you could of done better, go sit down. Don’t write your name on your paper until you can take pride in it!” Ever since then, I’ve followed that concept with everything I do. This year I have put even more pride into my school work because I’m a high school junior and I would love to be in the National Honors Society next year. Because of this short term goal I’m striving for at least a 95 in every single one of my classes.
What is your favorite day of the week and why?
Oddly, I’m going to have to go with Monday! What’s better then a fun weekend and then being able to come back to school well rested and see all my friends again? On Monday’s in track we usually run circuits, which is equivalent to at least five miles and I love running distance! Teachers never give tests on Mondays and rarely do I receive homework on them either. When tracks over with I get to go spend some time with Stev, I’m his high school mentor and he always can make my day even better!
Do you have a good luck charm? What is it?
I don’t have an item I can cling to and say that “everything will be alright as long as it’s with me.” But without the support of my family and friends things wouldn’t be the same. Whenever I’m performing, running or competing I look to them for encouragement. I like showing off- who doesn’t? So even when I’m tired I just have to find them in the crowd and knowing they’re there gives me that extra boost of energy and it makes me want to do better! There the people that put the biggest smile on my face and knowing that they’ve come to support me comforts me and cures any nervousness I might have had before!
